A clarification on reading periods.

There’s been a misunderstanding based on some inexact wording in the previous post. Arkham Tales does not have a “reading period”, nor are stories accepted for specific issues; what was meant was that we were putting the contents of Issue #6 together at the beginning of March. We’re always happy to see good fiction!

Still accepting submissions for Issue #6

Arkham Tales is still accepting submissions for Issue #6, but you only have until the end of the month, so hurry and submit (after reading our guidelines, of course!).

Leucrota Press purchases Arkham Tales

Leucrota Press, an independent science fiction, fantasy, horror, and graphic novel publisher, has just purchased rights to Arkham Tales.

Arkham Tales will now exist as a subsidiary of Leucrota Press, and continue to publish as a quarterly online magazine.

Future publication dates will be April, July, October, January (2011).

The site is currently under construction. Please check back soon for submission guidelines and deadlines, as well as advertising rates.

Issue #5 is now available!

Issue #5 of Arkham Tales — the final issue, sorry to say — is now available for free download! This issue features a cover by Christophe Desaigne, and contains fiction by Robert J. Santa, Doug Goodman, Anne M. Pillsworth, Lawrence Barker, Sunder Cameron Addams, James S. Dorr, Maggie Flynn, and J.C. Tabler.

There are two options for download. If you plan on reading the magazine on your screen, download this web-optimized version:

Thanks to starting up Arkham Tales right when the economy started swirling around the bowl — and believe me, it takes a special gift of timing to pull that off — the response from advertisers hasn’t been as robust as I had hoped. (This is not to denigrate the support of the advertisers we have had, without whose support we would not have gotten far.)

I have been exploring alternate revenue models, one of which has been the idea of charging a small amount for upcoming issues of Arkham Tales. (Those published up until now would continue to be made available for free.) I would like to enlist the help of all AT readers to determine if this is feasible. And all it requires from you is your clicks!
